1st Day: Theoretical – Production of Essential Oils and Hydrosols

- How essential oils and hydrolsols are produced
- How essential oils and hydrosols are used
- Principles of steam distillation
- Construction of a still for steam distillation
- Commercial and self-constructed stills
- Comparison of several methods to separate the oil-hydrosol mixture
- Requirements for maximum essential oil yield and hydrosols that are as intense as possible
- Best time of day and optimum state of a plant to harvest
- Preparation and shredding the plant material
- Recipes for oil production
- Recipes for use
- Scent samples of about 70 different types of self distilled essential oils and hydrosols
2nd Day: The Practice – You Distill on Your Own
Saturday 09:00 – 11:30 and ca. 13:00 – ca. 16:00, in between collective lunch (optional)
- Each participant is distilling independently with a provided still the whole day
- Preparation and shredding the herbs, spices, blossoms, roots, branches
- Implementation of the steam distillation
- It’s no problem to bring your own plant material, please contact us previously for more information
- Separating the essential oil – hydrosol mixture
- Preparation of soap, bath salt, massage oil, and perfume with the use of your self-made essential oils and hydrosols
- Receive your Certificate of Completion at the end
